Splendour In The Grass 2012 Lineup

Splendour In The Grass is moving back to Byron Bay following a temporary stay at Woodfordia, and there can be no doubt that with the move to a smaller venue there has come a slightly ‘smaller’ lineup, meaning in this case a more pronounced focus on Australia acts and no mammoth names like Coldplay and Kanye (although personally I think the latter is a good thing). Thankfully however there is still a ton of quality to be found here, most notably in headline acts that don’t tour Australia every other year, as well as a pretty impeccable selection of the ‘it’ bands in Australia right now.

Some UK Band Announce Small Australian Tour

For once the crazy rumours were right: Radiohead are touring Australia this year. That’s really all there is to say I suppose, especially because this news is already everywhere. Of interest however is that fact that apparently no new shows will be added to the dates already announced, so it seems like if you miss out, tough.

Last Dinosaurs Million Years National Tour

Last Dinosaurs’ Melbourne show this week is completely sold out, but just in case you missed out the band have announced a much more sweeping set of national dates for April, including stopovers at regional centers and playing generally larger venues throughout most of Australia. The tour details are below.

Lana Del Rey Australian Tour

The most divisive figure to ever play gentle retro indie pop music, Lana Del Rey, has announced an Australian tour (or at least two dates, anyway), which was fairly predictable given her insane popularity over here at the moment. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the venues get an upgrade, either, because I can’t see tickets to the Toff show in particular lasting very long. Here are the details.

Elbow And Bombay Bicycle Club Australian Tour

In the most exciting tour announcement in quite some time, UK band Elbow have revealed that they will be returning to Australia less than a year after absolutely killing it at Splendour In The Grass. And, as if that wasn’t enough, they are also bringing fellow UK band, the excellent Bombay Bicycle Club, with them for the series of shows. This is not a tour to be missed, and it looks like I may just have to break my ‘no festival hall gigs’ policy. Tickets are on sale December 6th.

Big Day Out

Big Day Out Sideshows

While I wasn’t personally a big fan of the Big Day Out lineup this year, and can’t really see myself braving that crowd again, there are definitely a few bands I would quite like to see at headline shows. With that in mind, here’s a bunch of Big Day Out sideshows that were just announced for Melbourne.
