Melbourne band Planet Love Sound have released a stunning new video for their single ’My Shadow’, filmed both in Melbourne and Berlin. Just like the song itself the video is a little disturbing and chilling, but also very beautiful, polished, and mesmerising. The Griswolds

The Griswolds ‘Mississippi’

The reliably excellent Rare Finds have announced their first band of 2012, and it’s none other than Sydney’s The Griswolds. The band not may be from Brisbane like most of Rare Finds’ signings, but they play just as infectious pop music as the likes of YesYou and The Belligerents, which is a very very good thing. Check out their euphoric single ‘Mississippi’.

Foxes

Foxes ‘Youth’

Late last year solo artist Foxes, aka Louisa Rose Allen, released her debut digital single, ‘Youth’, on Neon Gold. A couple of days ago the single was made available for purchase as a vinyl via the official Neon Gold store, which is what brought it to my attention. But you don’t really care about that. What really matters is that Youth is a powerhouse of a song, and introduces the world to a female musician very much in the vein of fellow Neon Gold recruit Mariana And The Diamonds, only… well, better.

Elephant Eyes

Elephant Eyes ‘I Want To Know’

Elephant Eyes are a fairly new Melbourne band who have just released their debut single, ‘I Want To Know’, which has already received a bit of love from radio stations PBS, Triple R, and SYN. It’s no surprise either: this is a delicately and superbly crafted track, built around the interplay between alternating lead vocalists Kate McMahon and Stu Hazelman (also of The Hazelman Brothers). It’s slow paced but in a very endearing, deliberate way, and it stands out head and shoulders above a lot of generic Australian music at the moment.

The National ‘Twenty Miles To NH Part 2′

The Belligerents ‘Steal Money’

Earlier in the year I posted about The Belligerents’ debut EP ‘Less Arty, More Party’, noting that it was not only wonderfully titled but also a really fun, energetic, and upbeat record. Well the Brisbane band have just released their next single following said EP, a collaboration with dance outfit Mitzi entitled ‘Steal Money’. Lend it your ears.
