Patrick Wolf Australian Tour

The enigmatic, eccentric, at time slightly mad, always entertaining, and very charismatic Patrick Wolf has announced an “intimate acoustic tour” of Australia this September. I’m not to sure about the ‘intimate’ part however, because I’m pretty sure all of these venues are bigger than that which I saw him play last time he toured here. Oh well.

Bon Iver

Bon Iver @ The Sydney Opera House, 11th And 12th Of March

The most remarkable thing about Bon Iver and Justin Vernon in particular is how they have grown so much as a band and as a person respectively but yet have maintained their identity; how they have kept the essence of what made their early music so very special and imprinted it into everything they do, whether that be their sophomore album or playing at the Sydney Opera House in front of thousands of people with a ten-piece band. Last Dinosaurs Million Years National Tour

Last Dinosaurs’ Melbourne show this week is completely sold out, but just in case you missed out the band have announced a much more sweeping set of national dates for April, including stopovers at regional centers and playing generally larger venues throughout most of Australia. The tour details are below.

SITG - Elbow

Elbow And Bombay Bicycle Club Australian Tour

In the most exciting tour announcement in quite some time, UK band Elbow have revealed that they will be returning to Australia less than a year after absolutely killing it at Splendour In The Grass. And, as if that wasn’t enough, they are also bringing fellow UK band, the excellent Bombay Bicycle Club, with them for the series of shows. This is not a tour to be missed, and it looks like I may just have to break my ‘no festival hall gigs’ policy. Tickets are on sale December 6th.

Bon Iver Australian Tour

Big Day Who??? Today’s announcement of the headliners for the Big Day Out festival was overshadowed by the revelation that Bon Iver will be playing at next year’s Golden Plains festival, as well as performing a series of sideshows around the country. Literally the only disappointing thing is the choice of Melbourne venue- it looks like a trip to Sydney (and not the music bowl variety) might be on the cards.
